The single most useful piece of cannabis advice is four words long: start low, go slow. It matters most with edibles and tinctures, where the effects take time to arrive and last for hours.

Why edibles are different

When you eat cannabis, your body processes THC through the liver, which makes the effect stronger and much longer-lasting than smoking or vaping. Onset can take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours depending on what you have eaten that day. The classic mistake is taking a second piece because the first one has not hit yet.

A sensible starting point

  • New to edibles: 2.5 mg of THC is a gentle first dose. Many gummies are 5 mg each, so cut one in half.
  • Some experience: 5 mg is a common comfortable dose.
  • Regular consumer: 10 mg or more, based on what you know works for you.
  • Tinctures: start with a few drops under the tongue, hold for a minute, and wait 20 to 30 minutes before adding more.

Whatever you take, wait at least two hours before considering more. Note what you took and how it felt so your next session starts from knowledge rather than guesswork.

If you overdo it

Too much THC is unpleasant but not dangerous for a healthy adult. Find a calm, comfortable place, drink water, eat something, and wait; it passes. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Some people find a CBD product takes the edge off. Never drive, and if you have an underlying health condition and feel unwell, call your doctor.

Keep it safe at home

Store edibles in their original labeled packaging, out of sight and out of reach of children and pets. Edibles look like ordinary candy, and that is exactly the problem.

For adults 21+ with a valid ID. Please consume responsibly, never drive after using cannabis, and keep all products away from children and pets.
