Almost every product on our menu carries one of three labels: indica, sativa or hybrid. They are a useful shorthand, and also a bit of a myth. Here is what they actually tell you.
The traditional meaning
- Indica has long been associated with relaxing, body-heavy effects, the classic evening choice.
- Sativa is associated with uplifting, energetic, more cerebral effects, often picked for daytime.
- Hybrid is a cross of the two, which is most of what exists today, with effects that lean one way or the other.
Why it is only part of the story
The indica and sativa names originally described how the plants grow, not how they feel. After decades of crossbreeding, nearly every strain is a hybrid, and two products both labeled indica can feel quite different. What shapes the experience is the full chemical profile: how much THC and CBD a product has, and which terpenes (the aromatic compounds) are present. Our THC, CBD and terpenes guide goes deeper on that.
How to use the labels anyway
Treat the label as a starting filter rather than a promise. If you know you want to wind down, start in indica and indica-leaning hybrids. If you want to stay active, start in sativa. Then read the product description and the terpene information, and ask a budtender what customers say about it. Over time you will notice certain terpenes or brands work for you, and that becomes a better guide than the label.
On our menu you can filter by lineage with one tap, and the Flower types links in the footer take you straight to each group.
